Overseasidol.com — The Hong Kong Film Awards Association officially unveiled the nominations for the 44th Hong Kong Film Awards on February 10.
This year, a total of 47 films are competing across 18 award categories, marking one of the most competitive editions in recent years.
Juno Mak’s crime thriller “Sons of the Neon Night” emerged as the frontrunner with 12 nominations, the highest number among all shortlisted films.
The impressive tally positions the film as a major contender heading into the awards ceremony.
In the Best Film category, the nominees include “Another World”, “Au Revoir, UFO”, “Sons of the Neon Night”, “Back To The Past”, and “She’s Got No Name”.
With strong critical reception and audience support, the race for Best Film is expected to be closely contested.
The Best Director category features Tommy Kai Chung Ng, Lee Chi Chun, Leung Pak Kin, Shu Qi dan Peter Chan.
Shu Qi’s nomination highlights her growing presence behind the camera in addition to her established acting career.
For Best Actor, Louis Koo earned double nominations competing alongside Cheung Chi Chung, Tony Leung, and Carlos Chan.
Meanwhile, the Best Actress category includes prominent names such as Zhang Ziyi, Fala Chen, serta Ma Li, Natalie Hsu and Fish Liew.
In the Best Supporting Actor category, there are Alex To, Peter Chan, Ben Yuen, Wong You-nam, and Lam Ka-hei.
The Best Supporting Actress category features Michelle Wai, Joyce Tang, Nina Paw, Kara Hui, and Deng Tao.
The Best Newcomer nominations go to Deng Tao, Ali Lee, Li Zhekun, Jau Ji-yut, and Daphne Su.
