He said, “I don’t have a management company. I work independently, manage myself, and have no restrictions. I only take roles with good scripts, and if I don’t feel like it, I won’t act. I will never compromise,”.
Zhang Wanyi once signed with a talent agency in 2015 but sought to terminate the contract the following year.
He argued that the company failed to fulfill its promises. In 2017, Zhang authorized his lawyer to send a termination notice to the agency.
The company then filed a counterclaim, demanding 12.5 million yuan in penalty fees and an additional 110,000 yuan in legal costs.
In December 2017, the court issued its first-instance ruling. Zhang Wanyi was ordered to pay 500,000 yuan in compensation and 100,000 yuan in legal fees.
The court also confirmed that the management contract was officially terminated from the date the judgment took effect
