Overseasidol.com — On August 19, 2025, the historical war drama “Gui Dui” officially announced its premiere date.

The series will begin airing on August 25 during CCTV-8 prime time, and will also be available on Tencent Video.

The drama is created to commemorate the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The project is guided by the National Radio and Television Administration of China.

Produced by Tencent Video, the drama is written by renowned screenwriter Gao Mantang with Li Li, Ru Sheng, and Li Zhou, and directed by Zang Xichuan and Zhao Yang.

The cast includes Hu Jun, Li Naiwen, Chen Jingke, Yuan Shanshan, Ren Bin, and Song Jiateng.

Set against the backdrop of 14 years of Anti-Japanese resistance in Northeast China, the story follows a small unit of soldiers who lose contact with their main force and organization.

Facing Japanese encirclement, separation, hardship, and life-or-death trials, they eventually reunite and return to the battlefield.

Their sacrifice contributes to China’s victory and the global fight against fascism.

Told from the perspective of ordinary resistance fighters, the drama features characters such as Lu Changshan (Hu Jun), Tang Deyuan (Li Naiwen), Tian Xiaogui (Chen Jingke), Lan Hua’er (Yuan Shanshan), Gao Yunhu (Ren Bin), and Wan Fuqing (Song Jiateng).

These figures embody ordinary heroes who fought bravely with wisdom and determination.

“Gui Dui” is expected to become a remarkable historical drama that not only highlights patriotism but also offers new insights into the 14-year struggle of the Chinese people against Japanese aggression.
