Overseasidol.com — Jennie’s recent pop-up store in Changsha has sparked heated discussions among fans and consumers.

A plastic hair clip set containing four pieces was priced at 169 yuan (around $23), drawing criticism from some buyers who argued the cost far exceeded its material and design value.

Many consumers claimed the pricing was not justified by the quality. Reports surfaced that some hair clips had rough edges, blurry logo prints, and even inverted logos.

Other merchandise, such as hats and T-shirts, was also described as having simple designs and quality comparable to low-cost items available online.

However, fans defended the pricing by pointing out that pop-up store products are often priced by the event organizers, not Jennie’s direct team.

They also argued that the cost includes licensing fees for Jennie’s brand as well as pop-up operating expenses.

When compared with luxury brands like Miu Miu, where similar accessories can cost thousands of yuan, Jennie’s merchandise was seen as relatively reasonable.

Although the promotion period for Jennie’s debut solo album Ruby has ended, her project Complex Presents Rubify by JENNIE continues with a pop-up tour across Asia.

The tour is expected to remain a must-visit for dedicated fans despite the ongoing pricing debate.
