In a statement released on January 30, she confirmed that she was the driver at the time of the incident and accepted full responsibility for what happened.
According to her explanation, the accident occurred on March 16, 2025, while she was traveling with her manager and assistant in a rental car.
While driving, she swerved suddenly to avoid a dog that ran onto the road, causing the vehicle to crash into a roadside warning sign and a residential wall.
She stated that only the three of them were present at the scene. Jin Chen said she sustained relatively serious injuries in the crash.
Her manager immediately took her to the hospital for emergency treatment and surgery, while her assistant stayed behind to handle matters related to the accident.
In the confusion and panic following the incident, the assistant reportedly told traffic police that he had been the driver and cooperated with the initial accident documentation process.
After regaining consciousness following surgery, Jin Chen said she learned how the situation had been handled.
She emphasized that as the actual driver, she believed she must bear full responsibility for the accident and for the improper handling that occurred afterward.
She instructed her assistant to contact the insurance company to withdraw a previously submitted claim.
All vehicle repair costs, damage to roadside facilities, and compensation for the affected property owner were paid personally by her, with payments reportedly completed in April 2025.
In her statement, Jin Chen expressed deep remorse, acknowledging that she failed to set a good example as a public figure.
She said her actions had caused concern and taken up public resources.
Thanking the public for their attention and oversight, she pledged to strictly follow traffic regulations in the future and to act more cautiously and responsibly.
