Chinese actress Li Qinqin has publicly praised Lay Zhang after watching Stephen Chow’s latest movie, Kung Fu Soccer.
In a social media post shared on July 21, she encouraged audiences to watch the movie and highlighted Zhang’s outstanding performance.
Li said Lay successfully set aside his idol image to fully embrace the role of Xu Feng.
She praised him for capturing the essence of Stephen Chow’s iconic comedy style while adding warmth and emotional depth to the character.
According to Li, Xu Feng is a layered character whose exaggerated humor hides a gentle and resilient personality.
She also noted that Zhang’s smooth transition between comedic scenes and emotional moments made the performance even more impressive.
She specifically mentioned several memorable details, including the character’s signature pink comb and the many absurd yet hilarious situations he creates throughout the film.
