The highly anticipated Chinese mystery-adventure drama Mystic Nine has officially confirmed its premiere date.

The series debuts on July 30, 2026, exclusively on Youku. It serves as an important chapter connecting the stories of The Mystic Nine and The Lost Tomb universe.

The drama is executive produced by Nanpai Sanshu and directed by Bai Shan, best known for Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty.

Leading the cast are William Chan, Chen Yao, and Joseph Zeng.

Synopsis

Set in Changsha in 1935, the story begins after the mysterious disappearance of the entire 401 military unit during a mission in western Hunan.

The only clue left behind is a strange symbol pointing toward a mysterious place known as Geshi Tower.

As unusual events continue to unfold, Zhang Qishan gathers the powerful Nine Gates families to investigate the disappearance.

At the same time, foreign forces are searching for an ancient treasure hidden beneath the site, leading to a dangerous race filled with conspiracies, underground secrets, and life-threatening challenges.

Cast and Characters

William Chan reprises his iconic role as Zhang Qishan, the military commander of Changsha and leader of the Nine Gates. His return marks one of the series’ biggest highlights after a decade.

Joseph Zeng plays Wu Laogou, the grandfather of Wu Xie. Smart and resourceful, he is an expert tracker and dog handler who becomes a vital member of the expedition.

Chen Yao stars as Huo Xiangu, the only female leader among the Nine Gates. She is intelligent, fearless, and highly skilled in strategy and ancient mechanisms.

The supporting cast includes Jeremy Tsui (Xu Zhengxi), Ashton Chen (Shi Xiaolong), Ying Haoming, and Li Naiwen, portraying members of the legendary Nine Gates families.
