A member of OURBIRTHDAY, an upcoming girl group under a JYP Entertainment subsidiary, has become the center of online discussion after her stage name sparked controversy on social media.
The topic climbed to the top of entertainment trending lists on July 17, 2026.
The discussion began when the member’s official stage name, “BABY” was linked by some netizens to the well-known Chinese actress and model Angelababy.
Trending posts referring to her as the “JYP girl group member Angelababy” led many people to mistakenly believe she had adopted the celebrity’s stage name.
The rookie idol is Hsie Jiahsuan, a Taiwanese trainee born in 2009 and a member of OURBIRTHDAY, which is preparing for its official debut.
Her official stage name is simply BABY, not Angelababy.
Some online users criticized the situation, arguing that the similarity could create confusion and questioning whether it was an attempt to gain attention.
Others suggested the controversy may have resulted from an error in the company’s promotional materials, which allegedly listed the member’s English name as Angelababy. (Overseasidol.com)
