Overseasidol.com — Former AKB48 idol, Oya Shizuka recently shared a personal health experience during her appearance on the Nippon TV program “Ueda to Onna ga DEEP ni Hoeru Yoru” aired on April 15.

She recounted a past diagnosis where she was suspected of having autonomic nervous system disorder.

Around the age of 20, Shizuka began experiencing unusual symptoms such as sudden heart palpitations, insomnia, and ringing in her ears.

She said she would feel extreme anxiety even in normal moments like waiting at a traffic light or waking up from sleep.

The symptoms escalated before a concert, where overwhelming fear caused her to burst into tears, and she was unable to perform in one of the songs.

Following the incident, she visited a doctor and was told she may be suffering from dysautonomia. The doctor prescribed her herbal medicine meant to ease her symptoms.

Interestingly, although she never took the medicine, simply receiving it brought her peace of mind, and her symptoms disappeared shortly thereafter.

Reflecting on the cause, Oya admitted she never considered herself someone who easily gets stressed.

However, she noted that the period around age 20 was when AKB48 began gaining massive popularity and the general elections for members were introduced, making popularity differences among members more visible.

She believes the pressure during that intense period may have taken a toll on her health.
