Overseasidol.com — On July 29, her 30th birthday, Sun Rui officially announced the end of her contract with Star48 or Siba Media.
She revealed the news through a livestream and a Weibo post, confirming that she would not be renewing her contract after 12 years of collaboration.
Sun Rui deliberately chose to host her farewell livestream, marking the moment with a sense of ceremony and gratitude.
In her post, she wrote, “Twelve years, turning to close the curtain. This is an end, but also a new beginning. Long live freedom,”.
Her journey with Star48 began in August 2013, when she joined as a second-generation SNH48 member at the age of 18.
From then until her contract expiration on July 29, 2025, she spent 4,364 days (12 years) growing from a teenage trainee to a seasoned artist.
During her tenure, Sun Rui achieved several major milestones. She was crowned champion of SNH48 GROUP’s 7th and 8th General Elections (2020–2021).
In 2021, she established her own studio and pursued solo activities, while still being managed under the Star48 framework.
Her departure marks the beginning of a new chapter in her career, as Sun Rui embraces independence.
