Overseasidol.com — China’s State Council Taiwan Affairs Office held its regular press conference on February 11, where spokesperson Zhu Fenglian addressed a question regarding a Taiwanese singer’s recent viral video about a special farmer bus service in Guiyang.
The singer had posted a short video online highlighting Guiyang’s “Huimin” bus line, a service designed to assist local farmers.
In the video, he expressed hope that people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait could see the best in each other.
The post quickly sparked widespread discussion among netizens from both mainland China and Taiwan.
In response, Zhu Fenglian emphasized that helping citizens increase their income and improve their quality of life is a key priority for local governments across mainland China.
She cited several people-centered initiatives, including Guiyang’s farmer-friendly bus line, Chongqing’s metro “Back Basket Line” that facilitates transportation for agricultural workers, and Chenzhou in Hunan Province’s special train service for vegetable farmers.
According to Zhu, these measures demonstrate the government’s commitment to public welfare and reflect a sense of warmth and responsibility in serving the people.
She also expressed support for more Taiwanese compatriots engaging with mainland society, paying attention to its development and the daily lives of its residents.
Zhu stated that such exchanges help spread positive energy and constructive voices, allowing people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to better appreciate each other’s strengths.
She underscored the importance of continued social interaction and communication in fostering mutual understanding and goodwill.
