In a social media statement, he stressed that targeting civilians or medical facilities constitutes a blatant violation of the Geneva Convention.
“I mourn for all the lives lost. I hope every individual working within the involved organizations and agencies remains safe.
Attacking innocent civilians or hospitals is a direct breach of the Geneva Convention. Such acts are deeply inhumane,” Nonkul wrote.
He emphasized that hospitals must always be regarded as the highest-protected zones under international law, deserving respect under all circumstances.
