Chinese actress Zhou Dongyu recently reflected on the early days of her acting career during an interview.

She shared one of her most memorable experiences while filming her debut movie, Under the Hawthorn Tree.

She recalled a scene in which her character had to shout loudly from a riverbank to call Lao San.

Although the moment appeared simple on screen, Zhou admitted that she burst into tears after completing the scene.

According to Zhou, she has always been an introverted person who is uncomfortable speaking loudly.

She said that even raising her voice too much could surprise her, making the scene especially difficult to perform.

The actress also explained why she decided to join the stage production of Wencheng.

One of the biggest reasons was that the play is adapted from a novel by acclaimed author Yu Hua, whose works she greatly admires.

Another reason was the opportunity to work again with director Chen Minghao, whom she had previously collaborated with on a film.

She also expressed her excitement about finally sharing the stage with Duan Yihong, an actor she had long hoped to work alongside.

Zhou Dongyu said she wanted to challenge herself by performing without the protection of a camera.

She believes theater offers a completely different acting experience and allows her to discover new possibilities as a performer. (Overseasidol.com)
