Overseasidol.com — On September 8, a blogger alleged that Chinese actor Xu Kai has been involved in frequent gambling with a group of close friends.
The report claimed that Xu Kai regularly hosted card games with bets worth tens of thousands of yuan each time.
Over the course of a year, the total amount reportedly reached millions. His luxury residence in Hengdian was even described as a private “casino”.
The blogger also shared WeChat screenshots showing money transfers along with a video.
Xu Kai’s camp has not issued any response so far. A staff member from the Hengdian branch of Zhejiang Dongyang Public Security Bureau confirmed that the case is being monitored and referred inquiries to the bureau’s political department.
The controversy follows earlier accusations from actress Xu Lisha, who said Xu Kai cheated during their relationship and revealed money transfers related to gambling.
Screenshots showed that on December 30, 2021, while filming S”now Eagle Lord” in Hengdian, Xu Kai won 8,000 yuan from a card game.
A friend transferred the winnings to Xu Lisha in three separate payments of 2,000 yuan. Xu Lisha returned part of the money, but Xu Kai reportedly refused to accept it.
After the new allegations, Xu Lisha once again posted on social media, stating that her only demand is a public apology.
She stressed that Xu Kai should admit to deception and the emotional harm he caused.
Police reminded the public that gambling carries severe consequences. Offenders may face administrative detention of up to 15 days and fines of up to 3,000 yuan.
In criminal cases, the penalty can be up to 3 years in prison, and in serious circumstances, even 10 years.
A criminal record could also impact careers, with restrictions on civil service, joining political parties, overseas studies, immigration, and professions like law.
