Overseasidol.com — Chinese actress Qin Lan recently opened up about her health condition during the fourth season of the variety show The Inn, which aired on March 1.

She shared that she had undergone vocal cord surgery prior to filming in hopes of resolving a long-standing voice issue.

Despite the medical intervention, Qin Lan admitted that her recovery did not meet expectations.

Instead of improving, her voice reportedly became even hoarser than before the procedure. Speaking humorously, she described the change as shifting from a bright, cartoon-like “electric Dora” tone to a deeper, rougher “grandmother wolf” voice.

Her vocal problems date back several years. In 2019, while filming the hit drama Story of Yanxi Palace, intense crying scenes reportedly triggered pharyngitis, which later affected her vocal cords.

In 2020, after starring in the drama Legacy, Qin Lan was diagnosed with incomplete closure of one vocal cord. Although she took a four-month break to recover, the condition was not fully resolved.

The issue worsened again in 2023 when she filmed at high altitude and experienced altitude sickness, leading to a recurrence of throat inflammation and further aggravating the vocal cord problem.
