Overseasidol.com — Chinese singer and actor Roy Wang has officially filed a lawsuit against Shanghai Kuanyu Digital Technology Co., Ltd., the operator of the popular video-sharing platform Bilibili.

The case centers on alleged violations of his reputation rights due to harmful content circulating on the platform.

According to records from Tianyancha, the case is scheduled for its first hearing on June 18, 2026, at the Shanghai Yangpu District People’s Court.

The lawsuit has sparked widespread public attention and renewed debates over the responsibility of digital platforms in moderating user-generated content.

Roy Wang’s legal team claims that Bilibili failed to adequately control and remove harmful content targeting the artist.

The alleged violations include defamatory posts spreading false information about his personal life, including fabricated romantic rumors.

Additionally, there were instances of direct personal attacks involving insults and abusive language.

The lawsuit also highlights concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence technology.

It is alleged that manipulated deepfake-style videos featuring Wang Yuan’s likeness were published on the platform, along with edited clips that distorted his public appearances, such as altered concert footage.
