Overseasidol.com — South Korean broadcaster Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has reportedly secured a final victory in its copyright infringement lawsuit against Chinese video platform Bilibili.
The dispute dates back to 2021, when MBC filed a legal complaint after discovering that its content had been distributed on the platform without authorization.
Following the initial court ruling, the broadcaster appealed, arguing that the compensation awarded did not adequately reflect the extent of its losses.
In the latest decision, the court found that the platform operator was aware that a large volume of infringing content was being widely shared but failed to take sufficient action to address the issue.
As a result, the company was deemed to have assisted in the infringement and was ordered to pay significantly higher damages.
MBC stated that it remains firmly committed to protecting its intellectual property rights.
The broadcaster emphasized that it will continue to pursue legal action against unauthorized distribution of its content, both domestically and internationally.
