The official Stephen Chow Fan Club revealed that more than 1.6 million yuan in box office revenue for Kung Fu Soccer has been successfully recovered after fans reported suspected irregularities involving several movie theaters.
In a statement released on the evening of July 17, the fan community explained that members from Stephen Chow Tieba and the Stephen Chow Fan Club collected screenshots, ticket records, and other supporting evidence.
They organized the information into a detailed report and submitted it to film market regulators, cinema authorities, and the movie’s production team.
Following the submission, regulators carefully reviewed the evidence and launched on-site inspections at the theaters involved.
The investigation reportedly confirmed that several cinemas had improperly diverted box office revenue.
Authorities subsequently ordered the theaters to correct the violations and repay the missing earnings.
As a result, more than 1.6 million yuan in box office revenue was fully recovered and returned to Kung Fu Soccer.
The fan club described the achievement as the result of dedicated movie fans using data, evidence, and determination to protect the film’s legitimate earnings.
